I don't understand.

Would someone please explain why there was a talking hat and what it means? I've looked up "Slither in" and "Griffin Door" but I don't see anything that makes it make sense.

Slytherin and Gryffindor are student houses at Hogwarts. The talking hat is The Sorting Hat, which can basically read your personality and things like that and group you into the house in which you fit. People aren't actually attending here, you know, but... Your house is where you live and sort of like a team when it comes to things like Points and Quidditch.

We should just post a sodding bulletin...

Segregation as a positive is an archaic notion, usually one quite detrimental to society as a whole. Perhaps thankfully, the results here are frivolous.

I believe it's a curse. Apparently the hat, in its normal usage, only sorts children entering a certain school, determining which 'house' they are suited to for purposes of bonding and team building.

Sometimes. Opposing motivations and inspirations don't mean people are unable to cooperate to achieve a common goal.
